Seven MoUs exchanged at the inaugural Borneo International Halal Showcase are expected to generate about US$9 million in commitments over the next three years, according to Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan.
BIHAS 2026 brought together foreign companies and business chambers in Kuching for agreements covering halal exports, capacity building and strategic partnerships — framed as a shared push to strengthen economic ties and expand the regional halal ecosystem.
“Today, we are honoured to witness the exchange of seven MoUs involving foreign companies and business chambers, representing potential commitments worth approximately US$9 million over the next three years,” he said at the opening ceremony, themed ‘Sustainable Halal Ecosystem in Borneo’.
Deputy Premier Awang Tengah said collaboration is central to sustainable growth: working together creates opportunities, strengthens industries and builds a brighter future for the halal economy. He described BIHAS as more than a conference and exhibition — the start of a shared journey toward a resilient, globally connected Borneo halal ecosystem.
